
Peter has been involved with rowing for many years and followed his father and grand father into the sport. Peter started his rowing career at his local club in Sudbury, Suffolk where he reached the standard of junior 15 National Champion in the single scull and represented Great Britain in the men’s eight at the Coupe de la Jeaunesse.
At the age of 17 Peter then joined the Leander Club where he has been a permanent fixture in their Olympic development group ever since. In 2002 Peter raced at Henley Royal regatta and was fortunate to win the Fawley Challenge Cup. When illness struck the club the same year Peter was substituted into the Thames Challenge cup which won the event, making Peter one of the youngest and few people to win two Henley Medals in the same year. Peter then followed this up in 2004 when he stroked the Leander ladies Plate eight which won the event, comfortable beating Harvard in the final. In the same year he was selected to stroke the British eight at the Canal Cup in Germany.
A race of 13 kilometers in length against the top three eights in the world. In the 2005 season Peter won the under 23 final trials and was selected with his partner for the coxless four. Unfortunately injury was to hit and Peter had to pull out just before the World Championship. At this point Peter decided to take a full scholarship with Temple University, USA where he added the title of National Champion in the Collegiate men’s pair to his collection. At this years Henley Royal Regatta Peter raced again with the Leander Cub sitting at 6 in their Ladies Challenge Plate eight which reached the semi final.
